Yesterday was the Big Switch Off across the UK - a campaign to encourage everyone to switch off all electrical appliances for one hour between 2100-2200 hours to save electricity and raise awareness of what we can all do to minimise our consumption of this energy which contributes to global warming.
I was travelling home from college at this time, so it was difficult to participate properly. But then I guess I did participate because I didn't turn anything on. And when I got home partner had all the lights off anyway. But he had the TV on and the PC, and I think it was more a case of laziness than green activism that resulted in all the lights being switched off haha! SO I switched off the TV because he wasn't really watching it anyway. And it had Big Brother on, which is a big waste of electricity (but I admit it's quite fun and enjoyable when I feel like being in a mindless, voyeuristic, nosy mood).
I have been a bit lazy myself recently. Or more like, I have just felt incredibly busy and a bit stressed with work and life, so doing green things and being really healthy has sort of slipped down my agenda. I have been feeling a bit stressed, so it's high time I got back into my running which is a good way to keep me balanced and in check, both physically and emotionally.
So plan is a run on Sun. I wonder how far I will go before I puff out. It doesn't take long for one's fitness to fall below par if one doesn't keep on top of it!
Dancing, random mentions about my life; thoughts about the environment and the world; other stuff; plus music I love

The Cat's Curiosity
You can view my piccie on the WWF photo mosaic campaign now, by clicking here.
My face is sitting on the tiger's nose... maybe indicative of me being a bit nosey? Or curious? Or snotty?! hahaha
Btw, my final fundraising sum for the 10km Great Edinburgh Run I did last month, in aid of CLIMB, is £399 which is simply fandabbydozey.

World Environment Day...TODAY!
Today is World Environment Day.
To be honest, I haven't really done anything particularly 'special' or different to mark the occasion.
So this evening I will keep the lights switched off for as long as possible, eat UK-grown veggies, switch my PC off straight after writing this entry, use little water when washing up and brushing my teeth...erm, I know, not very imaginative, but then it really is small, everyday, mundane things we can all do to reduce our negative impact on the climate which does help. Particularly if EVERYONE does it. I think successful green-conscious living is developing good practices which just become normal. This takes determination and continued practice, but after a while it should become as natural (one hopes) as brushing one's teeth every morning and evening...ie you dont even really 'think' about it. It's just part of your routine. Getting past the hurdle of unfamiliarity/newness is a big step. After I think that it gets a lot easier....?
I see blogfriends Barbara and my Mum have celebrated World Environment Day in their own unique way on their blog! Check out their entries if you haven't already....
Happy World Environment Day to you!
Perhaps we should campaign to make this day a Global Holiday....and everyone just chills at home, doesn't travel anywhere, do much, or consume buckets of energy. A day of global respite. Collective chilling. No wars, no production, no consumption. Just being with ourselves, our families and our immediate environment. A big crazy unachievable idea....?!
Have fun

Pink Gets Political
This song is good. Not exactly environmental in what she sings about, but her message about the attitudes of high-ranking politicians (presidents and premiers etc) affects a plethora of issues which have an effect on us all.
Eye of the Tiger
WWF are running a campaign to ensure that the ban on domestic trade of tiger parts in China is not lifted.
They are taking this campaign to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species which is being held in Denmark this week.
I hav chosen to support this campaign by adding my photo to a large tiger mosaic, which you can see here.
If you add your own photo, you will also be demonstrating your support for this campaign.
The thought of tigers being killed for their skin, teeth, supposed medicinal properties etc is just terrible, particularly as the world is hardly overflowing with tigers in the first place so it all seems rather cruel and selfish.
